1. Project Background
The Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup football stadium is a dedicated venue for top global events. Among them, the core stadium can accommodate a large number of spectators, making it one of the largest and most technically advanced sports venues in Qatar. The core goal of this project is to solve the problem of sound coverage in the large space of the football stadium, ensuring that spectators in any position of the venue can clearly hear event commentary, on-site sound effects and broadcast instructions, so as to ensure the smooth progress of the event.
The customer finally chose our company (L-Solution) mainly because we have professional sound debugging capabilities that can accurately match the acoustic needs of the stadium. At the same time, the equipment has extremely strong stability, which has been verified for product reliability in many large-scale global sports events before. It can adapt to the complex outdoor environment in Qatar and fully meet the strict requirements of the World Cup for the sound reinforcement system of "zero failure and high fidelity".
2. Customer Needs
The core goal of this project is to provide a stable and clear sound reinforcement solution for the football stadium. At the same time, it faces two core challenges, which are typical pain points of outdoor stadium sound reinforcement:
- Environmental Adaptation Challenge: During the Qatar World Cup, the outdoor temperature is relatively high with sand-dust weather. The audio equipment is required to have super strong waterproof and dustproof performance, which can resist the erosion of high temperature and sand-dust, avoid equipment failure or sound quality attenuation, and ensure stable operation during the event.
- Sound Field Coverage Challenge: The football stadium has a large stand span and scattered spectator distribution. It is necessary to achieve sound coverage with ultra-long projection distance, and at the same time ensure uniform sound pressure level across the venue, avoid excessive volume difference between the front and back rows, and ensure that every spectator can get a consistent listening experience.
3. Our Solution
In response to the core needs and challenges of the customer, L-Solution has customized a professional waterproof line array sound reinforcement system for them. The specific solution is as follows:
L-Solution waterproof series line array V12 and V18S are used as core equipment, with a total of 120 V12 line array speakers and 60 V18S subwoofers deployed to fully cover all areas of the stadium, including the main stand, side stands and inner field. At the same time, combined with L-Solution's exclusive DSP preset program, according to the acoustic characteristics of different areas of the stadium (main stand, far stand, box, inner field), refined product layout and parameter debugging are carried out, and the vertical coverage angle and sound parameters of the line array are accurately adjusted to ensure that the sound can be evenly transmitted to every corner of the football stadium, achieving the sound reinforcement effect of "precise regional coverage and no dead ends in the whole venue". In addition, all equipment adopts high-level waterproof and dustproof design, combined with professional heat dissipation components, to adapt to the outdoor high-temperature and sand-dust environment in Qatar and ensure long-term stable operation of the equipment.
4. Main Product Advantages
The first core product is the L-Solution V12 Line Array Speaker, which has four prominent core advantages. Firstly, it has outstanding long-distance projection capability: the sound pressure level attenuates slowly, and a single group can cover an area with a radius of 100 meters, which is far better than traditional speakers. Secondly, it boasts excellent waterproof and dustproof performance, equipped with high-level protection that can effectively resist high temperature and sand-dust, making it suitable for extreme outdoor environments. Thirdly, it can provide a uniform sound field: the vertical coverage angle can be accurately adjusted, and the fluctuation of the sound pressure level in the whole venue is controlled within a reasonable range, ensuring the consistency of listening experience for all spectators. Fourthly, it supports stable high-power operation, with a high peak sound pressure level that can work continuously at high power for a long time without distortion or failure. The adaptive scene value of this product is also very prominent, as it can efficiently solve the problem of ultra-long projection distance in large stadiums, perfectly adapt to the high-temperature and sand-dust environment in Qatar, and ensure that the event sound is clearly and evenly covered in the whole venue.
The second core product is the L-Solution V18S Subwoofer, which also has four core advantages. Firstly, it delivers strong low frequency, with a frequency response of 35Hz-120Hz, providing full and powerful low-frequency sound effects to enhance the on-site atmosphere. Secondly, it is waterproof and durable, adopting a high-level waterproof and dustproof design to adapt to the long-term outdoor operation needs of the stadium. Thirdly, it has strong compatibility, perfectly matching the V12 line array to collaboratively achieve full-band sound coverage and improve the overall sound reinforcement effect. Fourthly, it has high load adaptation, capable of withstanding continuous high-power input, and maintaining full stability when operating collaboratively with the V12 line array. In terms of adaptive scene value, this subwoofer can enhance the low-frequency sound effect of the stadium, match the on-site atmosphere needs of the World Cup event, and collaboratively achieve full-band non-dead-angle coverage with the V12 line array, thus improving the immersive listening experience of spectators.
5. Implementation Process
To ensure the efficient implementation and effect of the project, L-Solution strictly follows the three core processes of "survey-installation-test" to ensure the accuracy of each step. The specific processes are as follows:
(1) On-site Survey and Planning
A professional technical team was set up to go deep into the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup football stadium to complete venue size measurement, acoustic environment detection and hoisting point survey, focusing on marking the stand span, spectator distribution density and sand-dust/high-temperature environment parameters. Combined with the survey data, a refined equipment layout plan was formulated, clarifying the hoisting position, quantity ratio and coverage angle of V12 line array and V18S subwoofer, and completing the first draft of DSP preset parameters synchronously to ensure that the plan fully matches the venue and customer needs.
(2) Installation and Programming Debugging
A professional construction team entered the site to complete the hoisting and wiring of V12 line array and V18S subwoofer, strictly following the stadium safety specifications to avoid affecting the use of the event venue. Based on the venue acoustic parameters, the DSP preset program was finely programmed, adjusting the volume, equalizer and coverage angle for different areas to achieve the effect of "clear main stand, no dead ends in the far end and undamaged sound quality in the box". At the same time, the equipment linkage debugging was completed to ensure that 120 V12 line array speakers and 60 V18S subwoofers operate collaboratively without signal delay or sound quality conflict.
(3) Testing and Optimization
A full-scenario simulation test was carried out to simulate the high-power operation state of the World Cup event, with continuous testing for 12 hours to detect equipment stability, sound coverage range and sound pressure level uniformity. For the minor problems found in the test, targeted parameter optimization was carried out, fine-tuning the line array coverage angle and equalizer parameters until spectators in any position of the venue can clearly hear the sound, and the fluctuation of the sound pressure level is controlled within a reasonable range. The final acceptance was completed, and a complete equipment operation manual and maintenance plan were delivered to the customer to ensure long-term use in the future.
6. Project Achievements
After the project was implemented, verified by the actual operation of the World Cup event, the L-Solution sound reinforcement system performed excellently, achieving three core achievements:
- Performance Compliance: Achieved 12 hours of continuous high-power operation without failure. In the high-temperature and sand-dust environment, the equipment had no overheating or failure, and the sound was clear without distortion, perfectly matching the high-intensity operation needs of the World Cup event.
- Coverage Compliance: The ultra-long projection distance capability of the V12 line array was fully exerted, with no sound dead ends in the whole venue. The difference in sound pressure level between the far end and the front row of the stand was controlled within a reasonable range, and every spectator could clearly hear the event commentary and on-site sound effects.
- Customer Recognition: The customer was highly satisfied with the sound reinforcement effect and equipment stability, reached a long-term cooperation intention, and planned to apply L-Solution products to other sports venue projects in Qatar.
